چکیده
Ventriculoperitoneal shunt treats hydrocephalus by altering CSF flow within the brain. In most of cases, shunts consist three parts, which are serially connected to each other: proximal catheter, one-way valve and distal catheter. is one commonly performed neurosurgical procedure, both on elective emergency basis. Consequently, in this paper, indications for shunt, types used, cure, complications ventriculoperitoneal were studied. During “Quantitative “, with amalgamating case series study out 109 VP-stunted patients, 38 show up complication. The complication diagnosis initially suspected according history physical examination high intracranial pressure. purpose determine VP-shunt complication, incidence VP different age childhood life geographic findings complication.
20 patients 52.6% male patient, from 2 months years 30 (78.3%) study, 26 complicated (68.4%) Nangarhar province. we found 8 (21.1%) abdominal pseudo cyst, 3 (7.9%) skin irritation, (5.3%) fever, upper end reserve infection, 6 (15.8%) lower disconnected tube obstruction 1 patient (2.6) Shunt extrusion month (real complication).

متن کاملThe Neuroimaging Studies in Children with Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt Complications: A 10 Years Descriptive Sudy in Tehran
Background Any mismatch between the production and absorption of CSF results in hydrocephalus. In most cases, the selected choice of treatment is the ventriculoperitoneal shunt insertion. Although, the surgery could have complications such as infection, shunt malfunction, subdural hematoma, seizure and Shunt immigration; so, the early and proper detection of these complications could result in ...
متن کاملManagement of Unusual Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt Complications
Objectives: Ventriculoperitoneal shunt surgery is the most widely used procedure in the treatment of hydrocephalus. However, this procedure has been associated with several delayed unusual complications. This paper will discuss these cases, their management and suggest ways on how to avoid these complications. Methods: This prospective study was conducted in the neurosurgery unit at King Hussei...
متن کاملA Technique for Treatment of Overdrainage in Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt
Background and Importance: Overdrainage is a complication of ventriculoperitoneal shunt but adjustable valves and anti-siphon devices can prevent it. These very expensive valves are most often inaccessible, so that the majority of the valves available in Togo are fixed differential pressure valves. Although overdrainage is a widely-known issue, we aimed to introduce a new risk factor and the wa...

UNLABELLED The aim of this study is the evaluation of laparoscopic treatment in abdominal complications following ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt. METHODS We report a retrospective study including 17 patients with abdominal complications secondary to VP shunt for hydrocephalus, laparoscopically treated in our department, between 2000 and 2007. RESULTS Patients' age ranged from 1 to 72 years...
